NOTE: These instructions are given for those working in Internet Explorer on a PC. If you have a Mac or are running Safari, Firefox or Google Chrome fear not! The directions shouldn't differ very much.
1. To get the video off of YouTube you'll need a special program. If you'd rather not download this then forget reading anything else on this post!
2. Incase you didn't know I wanted you to click the underlined word "program". Do it now if you haven't already!
3. Now that you're at the site, click the green box to the right of the site that says "Download NOW!"
4. After you've clicked it, do you see the big box that says "Download Now"? If so, click it. If not look harder, it's hard to miss.
5. You will probably get a message that says something about your security being in danger. It's not, just click the bar that brought this message and then click "Download File"
6. A pop-up message gives you a couple options. Click the box that says "Run".
7. Wait. Yeah, it's hard, I know.
8. Click Run again.
9. If working in Vista, you'll get a message that asks you if you're really sure that you want to download this thing. Say "Allow". Darn pop ups!
10. OOH! A WIZARD! Click "Next"
11. Ah, a lovely contract. No, don't read it. Just click "Agree". It only says that this program will dowload with or without your written or spoken consent 5 viruses. You can and should expct your hard drive to crash within the next couple of days after Jack&Hack Inc. have downloaded your personel information to our collection of little kids info. Translation: Computer go BOOM next week. Haha! JK! It's totally safe! No worries!
12. Hit "Next"
13. Hit "Finish". No, we're not done.
14. Go to YouTube (Note: this link takes you strait to the Insomnia Video)
15. Copy the URL (that's the thing that begins in "www.", be sure you get "http://" too.) Here's how you copy it. First click to the right of the URL then drag you mouse across the letters to highlight them.
16. Now for a fancy keyboard trick! With the URL highlighted, hold down the "Ctrl" button and then (while holding the Ctrl button) hit the "C" button. This copies the text.
17. Open the YouTube Downloader Program (Check the "All Programs" thing on your "Start" Menu.)
18. It says "Enter video URL". Move you mouse pointer (known as the "Cursor") to the white box below it.
19. BAM! The URL magically appears!
20. Now hit "download video from YouTube" and then "Okay".
21. Specify where you want this file to go. This, what you're downloading, should be deleted later as it's not the final video. I'd place it on your desktop so you can easily get to it to delete it.
22. After it's downloaded, hit the circle by the words "Convert video (previously downloaded) from file" (Note: The correct file will automatically appear).
23. Click the drop down menu and specify that you want to get the iPhone or iPod video version (depending on what you have).
24. Hit okay.
25. Wait. Geez.
26. It's now in the same place as that file you downloaded earlier.
27. Now open iTunes.
28. Click "File" at the top left hand of your screen.
29. Go to "Add File to Library"
30. A pop-up! Joy. Get to the folder that you downloaded your video to.
31. Click the video (probably named "INSOMNIA 2009") and then click "Open".
32. I'm sure you know how to get it from your library to your iPod now. Enjoy!
Now that you've been all around the internet and your own hard drive (believe it or not) I have a single step solution that is actually much easier than the 32 step project above.
Come see me on a Wednesday night (USB plug ready. You know, the white cord you plug into your iPod and computer to charge your iPod.) and I'll give you the latest videos strait from my laptop.
Haha! Wasn't that simple?
